![]() How do I store and reheat Crispy Honey Sesame Chicken Leftover honey sesame chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days. This popular dish is not authentically Chinese but is a favorite at many Asian restaurants. If you use a lighter color soy sauce, the sauce will look lighter but the taste should be about the same. Honey sesame chicken is found in Chinese restaurants across North America. Chinese-inspired as it is, it appeals to most Americans even when it is not an authentic Chinese dish. It is highly similar to General Tso Chicken but this one is not as spicy. Different soy sauce has different color, some lighter and some darker. What is Sesame Chicken It is fried chicken breast meat in a honey-based sauce that is both sweet and savory. Reduce the heat then simmer until the sauce is thick and glossy. Bring to a simmer then pour in the cornstarch slurry. Pour in the soy sauce, water, sugar, vinegar and sesame oil. Once the mixture in the saucepan is boiling, stir in the cornstarch slurry. To make the sauce, heat the oil in a large pan then cook for garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Meanwhile, mix together cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl. Combine all ingredients but the cornstarch and water in a small saucepan, then bring to a boil. If the sauce is lighter in color compared to the pictures, you might add some dark soy sauce to make the sauce darker in color. How to Make Honey Sesame Chicken First, make the honey sesame sauce.Set the Instant Pot to Saute mode to reduce the sauce, for about 2 minutes or so, until the sauce slightly thickens. When the valve drops, remove the cover carefully, add the chopped scallion and serve immediately. Cover the pot and select Manual and set to High pressure for 8 minutes. Once the sugar has fully dissolved and a low boil is reached, whisk in the water and cornstarch. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, and garlic to the saucepan on medium-high heat. Pour in the sauce and top with the white sesame. While the chicken is cooking, in a small saucepan, begin to make the sauce. Pan sear the chicken thighs until they turn slightly brown (if they stick to the pot too much, you may use a non-stick skillet for pan-searing or skip this step.) Add the the garlic and saute a little bit. Pour over chicken and bake for 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. As soon as the pot is fully heated (to make sure the chicken doesn’t stick to the pot), add the cooking oil. In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and 1 T cornstarch. Turn on the Saute mode on your Instant Pot.Make sure the honey and corn starch are completely dissolved. Mix all the ingredients in the Sauce together, stir to mix well. Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Wash and rinse the chicken thighs with cold water.
